A Unique Market Opportunity
When a major competitor recalled one of its ketogenic diet protein products for children, many people worldwide were left without a critical amino-acid-based, hypoallergenic medical food. This shortage created both an urgent humanitarian need and a unique market opportunity. Cambrooke recognized this as an opportunity to step in to support vulnerable patients. However, it required a partner to rapidly develop a powdered fat component for a protein replacement formula, a key part of its medical food portfolio.

Cambrooke partnered with Advanced Powder Dynamics to accelerate the development of this new powdered fat. APD rapidly formulated, scaled, and commercialized the ingredient to Cambrooke’s specifications. By leveraging our expertise in spray drying technology and process development, APD ensured the ingredient met the rigorous quality and performance standards required for medical nutrition products.
Our Results
Together, Cambrooke and APD successfully filled the supply gap. This means Cambrooke was able to meet the exponential surge in demand and capture 100% market share for the new product during the recall period. In recognition of this critical contribution, APD was honored with Cambrooke Ajinomoto’s 2020 Improving Lives Award.
